uncontained

It’s not often that I feel I am able to give God the entirety of my being – mind, body, and soul. I am constantly overwhelmed by the fact that Jesus gives of Himself completely in every moment, most intimately in His body and blood. He hides nothing from us, and holds nothing back.

When I have the courage to open my heart and fully receive Christ’s love, my soul feels like it could burst from the inside out. Sometimes this feeling births deep prayer or a flow of emotion, but most often it results in what I like to describe as arms wide open, singing to the heavens, feel it in my bones worship. A total surrender of all that I am before the One who loves every part of me.

A cry of adoration to the Lover of my soul – it’s unashamed and uncontained.

God receives our offering no matter the depth. He only asks for our best on any given day, but what if we didn’t give our heart in pieces?

What if you gave it all?

For the One who gave His life for you.

Upon bringing the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem, the most sacred representation of God in the Old Testament, “David and all the house of Israel were dancing before the Lord with all their might, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals.” 2 Samuel 6:5

They were dancing with all their might. David didn’t care what he looked like or whether he hit the right notes. He was unashamed and uncontained, completely fixed on God.

Don’t be shy, don’t be worried, and don’t hold back – for all of God’s glory flows back to you. Let your mind, body, and soul proclaim these three simple words:

I love You.

abba

He is closer than the air we breathe. He is more faithful than the ground beneath our feet.

He is God our Father, and if we let his love penetrate our hearts, we may be simultaneously bold and intimate enough to call him Abba.

Jesus calls upon God the Father as Abba, or Daddy, in the most tumultuous time of his life. He acknowledges the power of God to do all things, and yet, he yearns for God’s will in place of his own. Above all else, he trusts in Abba’s love.

“He said, ‘Abba, Father, for you all things are possible; remove this cup from me; yet, not what I want, but what you want.'” Mark 14:36

Abba’s love knows no bounds. It is fearless and relentless, tender and strong. Stronger than death itself. He knew every moment of your life before it came to be, and he chose to die for you. He loved you before you took your first breath.

No matter how many times we run away, he calls us back to his love again and again. He waits patiently for us. He is the Father that joyfully sends us love letters every day with no expectation of return. He is enamored by every one of your quirks – your cool and your crazy – for he delights in who you are.

He aches for you to trust his love, to come out from your hiding place. Let go of the fear that shackles your heart, and let him be your safe place. He will never abandon you. He is never giving up on you. He wants all of you, every part, to be drowned in his grace.

You have never been alone. He loves you in every moment – faithfully and completely.

The whole of your identity rests on this one truth: Abba loves you.

He has always been your Father, and he will always be your Father.
Climb into your Abba’s lap – will you let him love you?

Daddy,
Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation.
